If you are in Central Texas, like us then 2.5 hours to Dallas area,Houston area or San Antonio...it is a big state.Have yu every driven from Cental Texas to Colorado,it is a long trip on it' own to get out of Texas. But I want to stay here and have for over 36 years. But I can say Youuuss Guys just as easy,I am a midwest girl to start, and home is still kinda ....Do yu know where Mt Rushmore is? and do you know what the name of the state means...I will tell yu down the road. For those that read my Blog, would love your comments and following. I am working to make it a success and all is learning in progress. PS Marta sold so many items,yu should check out her SHOP! The show was a success. Both Marta and all her Friends we're happy. The event was busy both days, and  all vendors felt very worthwhile and plans are for a Fall show. Marta's Shop is now back on the map,her past and new customers now know where she is. We both look forward to painting and crafting new surprises. I sold the Wedding Cake in my previous post,I also sold the Ballerina Fairy. The Wedding cake sold to Stephanie who owns Gathering, located in Georgetown..You'v  got to see her shop, wow she has an eye for some great stuff. The Ballerina also sold to the owner of Simply Paris located in Vineyards Antique Mall in Colleyville Texas. Both vendors are ordering more from me in regards to thier upcoming events. This includes Bridal season,so more cakes just not as large and another Ballerina. Plus as always thank you to Marianne of Miss Mustard Seed,no I have not sold my Christmas Skirt. But I have a special order for one, so if one as a example makes another sale then that is what I am after. The idea of special order's is exciting but I am not ready for say Etsy yet.

This is just a small example of what you would find shopping at Gatherings in Georgetown TX. Stephanien places  the garden item shown on her sidewalk outside her store. She is down from the square in Georgetown.

Your going to love these two pictures,Rowena has such a good eye for unique looks. The green is really Real grass in silver serving pieces If you love this look you can still find a  few left and now located in Marta's shop. The whole look is so unique, the table is also located at Marta's Room. The top is a frosted glass, overall iron work and simply beautiful. Add a Bunny and it's perfect.

Check out Rowena's Pattern board, perfect idea for a fashionista...a blow up of original vintage patterns placed on a hangable board,a really cool idea and those dresses are too cool.
Do you love this one,a perfect pantry. So very special, and retains all the hardware, and  features that made the kitchens of the past work, but I bet your glad you have your multi cabinets and flour in the bag, probably tucked in the freezer. This one did not sell , I believe you can find this at Moore and Garrett. For the true collectible, your past treasure would look great with this item. Still has the original glass, you can see the waves.
Do you love the Nautical styling, this table was in the Blue section on the porch. The aquarium was filled with some neat jars full of shells. The cubby shelf I painted using ASCP Paris Blue, then used dark wax and hit it with my sandpaper(old school). The 123 is perfect for the organized gal,and I love the Provence Blue by ASCP.

OK this is a little of the paper delights I made, yes the swan as shown before is papermache and I added the details,my ruffled lamp shade with pearl touches, and the ruffled tree skirt. The frames are all great and plaster details all in good shape.I set this whole look with a wedding idea.

I think the cake and ballerina made a great presentation and the overall look was really pretty. The one thing that was a surprise, my garland swags did not sell. I sell one a month on the average at the store so now I am caught up and have them ready for the future, plus I left one at Marta's.

The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day, this pic shows off Marta's painted chairs. Yes she did paint the chairs including the fabric. She found with using a really fine sandpaper it works out just great. The Hall tree is beautiful with a marble shelf. The cubby you see on the table includes a Paris hotel idea, with decopage and skeleton keys.Great for your collectibles

This was shot from the porch and shows a lil of the view, check out Marta's Blog for more about the show. Hope to see you in the fall and if the weather was as perfect as this last weekend we will all have fun. Now it's time to take those items that did not sell, darn. Back to Moore and Garrett

For those who came out we hope you enjoyed yourself and we want to say THANKYOU!!,plus a Big Thank you to all the vendors that participated. You made the show a success

So whats up,Marta and I spent the day working on the property and setting up for our upcoming Marta and Friends...Don't miss this as it will be special. Looks like our prays will be answerred,we may be doing some work in the rain on Tuesday, but we have looked into this Friday and Saturday event...and looks like a wonderful spring day with clear weather. Marta has blue bonnetss blooming and they would make a great spot for a picture....
Now to my stuff, how about this fairy ballerina below, yes a vintage mannequin that is now dress up for her performance. This one was a BIG project but is a great display example of my paper talents and what I can come up with, when I let my creativity go. A mix of musical sheets with several folds, then burlap used as a accent and roses galore with pearl touches.

This shows off the neckline,a row of ruffles handmade using paper filters.
Lots of romatic pretty,The back of the dress shows off a fairy wing effect and more RUFFLES, then your seeing the door that I have created to use in a dining room or kitchen with the white dress side, and the reverse side is spring blue, both sides feature chalk boards for great note and messages. The ruffle lamp has been dressed with ASCP paint on the stand and then a row silk, row of ruffles with  pearl embelishments. Perfect for a vanity or night stand. We hope to see you this weekend, and remember Marta's Room is on FM 439

This is the start of my posting and building my Blog, O'my this is all new to me. Many years in the retail world, having done a long listing of events, seminars, telecasts, training manuls ect. you get it. But now being self employed ,opens other avenues and wanting to be successful in this challenge I have been inspires by so many of you in Blogland. So baby steps in building my post. I plead for patience with my initial steps and remember I remind you I am a terrible speller. P.S. I will give credit to my inspirations and please accept my thanks.

Take a look at some of my recent creations for the upcoming Marta and Friends

That's my grandmother clock in the background, boy does it have a fun story. From a church in Woonsocket,So.Dak. they we're going to toss her. O cry,but Dad saved her and she traveled across the state in a box usually used for a coffin. Dad cleaned her up and yes she still ticks and keeps time, but the ticking is very loud. So I don't always keep her wound up.She reminds me of many happy family trips and will stay in the family forever....She may have to make another trip someday.
This started out as a basic paper-mache swan. I just had to make it prettier...so out come's the Mod Podge, and tea water. I do a all overr decopage using vintage music sheets. Then a little folding of paper for wings and the tail. She had to have a garland to highlight that beautiful swooping neck. Then a little crafting paint in champayne rubbed in with ModPocge to give her a luster to swoon over.
This is a short example of my paper garlands,or swags. I make these double and triple in length. Then use burlap ribbon that has wired edges for shaping( I find the burlap ribbon only at Michaels)

This is a box that started out 60's green, now ascp CoCo and Old White with a fun Graphic, depicting French Chocolates, the inside is Burlap wraped over foam board so you can pin to the inside and use for keeping notes, I fun box for your treasures and that might be your chocolate to go to box.
This is a wedding cake I did all in paper. The body of the cake is a vintage 60's world book dictionary. I have to dig through blog land because I have seen a example on a smaller scale.NOW...  How to,first expect you will spend a lot of time on this creation depending on how big you make your cake. This is the first one I ever attempted and I went for go Big or go home. I started with removing the cover but retain your spine of the book you are working with. Now cut a thickness of the book careful to retain the spine again. The tall center section is the full height of the book. I then rolled each sheet fully to the center and hot glued each sheet, working around the book to create a circular shape. I used a brush of tea and coffee to add staining to the paper. Next I cut another section of the book and then cut that down to create a smaller layer to the cake,I used the same method but folded to the center and then folded again and glued. The botton section I used a papermache hat box so I would have a level surface to build from. This layer of the cake I decopaged completly then along the side,I rolled individual sheets of the dictionary and created a rolled cake look. Then comes the Pretty stuff using ribbon and handmade coffee filter roses, and cupcake liners and again lots of tea staining, adding pearls ect. The other touch's are the vintage doily's, my grandmother was creative in her own time always crocheting and making pretty's. I tea stained one and left the other in crisp white. So now you have a brief low down on how to make one. I placed the cake on a vintage silver platter and now it will make a great presentation for a wedding buisness,or a vintage wedding event.
